Derek was born in 1976 to Keith and Judy Brewster in Amarillo, Texas. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1994, and was married in 2002 and was father to one son, Dylan. Through the years, Derek loved to Fish and Hunt always willing to take a trip with friends if there was a chance of partaking in either of those activities. Derek's work as an Emergency Medical Technician started in 1997 after graduating from Amarillo College's Paramedic training program.
Derek began his Paramedic career in Baton Rouge, Louisiana working for Acadian Ambulance Service. From there he moved to Denver, Colorado to work for Denver Health. The Texas Panhandle was always in his blood, and he soon returned home to work for Amarillo Medical Service (AMS), then to become the Director of EMS in Pampa, and finally as a Paramedic for Cal Farley's Boys Ranch through Pampa's medical service.
Derek's short life was filled with joy and compassion for his fellow man, and it showed through the many lives, friendships and relationships he affected. His uproarious personality is remembered by friends, family, and colleagues through annual activities and through the scholarships and donations provided by the Derek Wade Brewster Foundation.
